This year marks the 113th anniversary of International Women’s Day. In order to celebrate the festival, promote a healthy lifestyle for faculty and staff, and further create a positive and active campus atmosphere, according to the requirements of Healthy China Action, on the afternoon of March 3, Tianjin University (TJU) held a nationwide fitness exercise at the Weijin Road Campus and Peiyangyuan Campus gymnasium, in which more than 1200 female faculty and staff participated. Lei Ming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin University attended the event and addressed a speech.

Lei Ming, on behalf of the university, extended festival greetings and blessings to all female faculty and staff, affirmed their hardwork and contributions to TJU, and spoke highly of the achievements of the Tianjin University Women Staff Committee over the years. She pointed out that a large of female faculty and staff actively participated in development of TJU and society, giving full play to the talents in all sides. With many female faculty members and groups receiving honors and awards, she hoped others would follow their example and strive for greater success. Finally, Lei Ming stated that Tianjin University Trade Union Committee will provide a more distinctive fitness platform for faculty and staff, so that the staff maintain good mental state and achieve greater results.

During the fitness session, participants, under the guidance of their athletic department teachers, demonstrated off their vitality by learning a specially designed exercise program, from warming up to completing the entire routine. In game session, they were divided into small groups to restore childhood joy. The Stadium was filed with laughter throughout the event.

The faculty expressed that these activities helped further enhance communications among colleges. They are grateful for the opportunity and are encouraged to participate more actively in physical exercise and to excel in scientific research and teaching.

In order to give better play to the exemplary role of high-end women workers, TJU Trade Union Committee, in cooperation with Women Staff Committee and Women Professors Association, has set up “Yongxu Reading Club”, calling for more female faculty members and students to read and continuously promoting the construction of “nursery”. We will continue to carry out a wide variety of activities to enhance the attractiveness and cohesiveness of women workers’ organizations and promoting their work to new levels.
