On February 27, the opening ceremony of "Extraordinary Decade" Exhibition of TJU Development Achievement was held in Zheng Dong Library. Professor Yang Xianjin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin University, and Student representative Li Shuangyang, PhD student from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, jointly unveiled the plaque of the exhibition.

On the theme of "Extraordinary Decade", the exhibition focuses on a series of remarkable achievements made by TJU in the past decade. It shows nearly 1000 pictures, over 50 videos, and more than 30 physical objects, which presents a panoramic and three-dimensional representation of the past decade of the new era, during which faculty and students of TJU have been committed to pioneering and innovation.

Committed to Fostering Virtue through Education

Over the past ten years, TJU has focused on cultivating outstanding talents with love of family and motherland, global perspective, innovation spirit and practical ability. The University has won 19 national-level teaching awards, 54 national-level construction sites of first-class majors, 45 national-level first-class courses, 39 research and practice projects of Emerging Engineering Education, 5 top-notch centers for talent training in basic disciplines, 5 majors in the plan for strengthening basic disciplines, 5 national excellent textbook awards, and 9 national-level excellent teachers.

Science and Technology Development

In the past decade, TJU has taken the lead in 19 National Science and Technology Prizes. In 2021, 2092 patents were authorized. We have taken the lead in undertaking 13 projects of Major State Basic Research Development Program of China (973 Program), 100 projects of National Key R&D Program of China, 32 key projects of both National Social Science Fund of China and the Ministry of Education's philosophy and social science research. 5666 high quality papers were published in 2021. The science funding is increasing year by year, with more than 4.1 billion yuan in 2021. We have continued to expand the layout of industry-university-research cooperation, signed comprehensive strategic cooperation agreements with 23 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, built 35 technology transfer sub-centers nationwide, and established 150 university-enterprise joint research and development institutions.

Disciplinary Development

TJU consolidates engineering, strengthens science, revitalizes humanities and develops medicine. The University has 7 level one national key disciplines, 8 level two national key disciplines, 2 national key (cultivated) disciplines, 30 Tianjin key disciplines, 20 Tianjin first-class disciplines, 11 top discipline cultivation programs of universities in Tianjin, 33 level one disciplines for doctoral students and 47 level one disciplines for master’s students.

Faculty and Staff

Over the past ten years, TJU has seized the opportunity of the country to comprehensively deepen the reform of faculty team construction in the new era, vigorously promoted the comprehensive reform of the personnel system, and further improved the management system of introducing, cultivating and giving full play of talents on all aspects. The University has built a system of career development for staff with TJU’s characteristics. By 2022, the University has 4,924 faculty and staff, including 919 teaching staff with senior professional title in the teaching and scientific research.

Culture Inheritance and Innovation

TJU was among the first batch being awarded the title of "National Civilized Campus". Its campus cultural life is colorful. The beauty of TJU lies in campus, education and spirit. The University built the cultural highland by improving the educational function of the campus, and guiding teachers and students to form a firm cultural pursuit.

International Exchange and Cooperation

Over the past decade, TJU has continuously optimized the network construction for global cooperation, strengthened the cultivation of international talents, consolidated the international scientific and technological cooperation platforms, and improved the international competitiveness of teachers. The University built an Internationalization Demonstration School - the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, comprehensively enhancing its global influence. Relying on important subject areas, TJU has promoted cooperation with key international universities and institutions, and has signed cooperation agreements with 260 universities and institutions in 50 countries and regions.

On international science-technology cooperation, TJU has built 10 cooperation platforms based on the subject advantages and is establishing 9 international journals. TJU attaches great importance to high-level international faculty construction, and conferred 131 honorary professorships, including 47 Nobel laureates, and academicians.
